Staten Island 9/11 Memorial

Staten island was probably the worst hit New York borough on 9/11 as it lost over 250 people. On the third anniversary of this tragic event, this memorial was dedicated and opened to the public. The basis of the design are two thin postcards, presumably sent to lost loved ones. On the inner side of the structure are a number of 9”x11” granite plaques that bear the names of the victims, with their date of birth and place of work on September 11, 2001. Each plaque has the profile of the person in silhouette.
